Concha López Bravo was born on 24th of November 1930.
Mrs. López is an autoditact. Her enthusiasm for painting evolved 16 years ago. It was initiated by the drug addiction of one of her children. To prevent further mischief from him, she bought for him canvas and colours. But he showed no interest for this type of therapy. So one day she started painting herself. "I place me in front of the easel, take a brush and start to paint what ever comes up in my mind. My great inspiration is my son, who died 2001. While painting, I remember him. I mix the colours without knowing how to do. But always I get the colouring I like to have."
The life of Mrs. López was hard and busy. She mentioned, that painting helped her to come over the problems and strokes of fate.
Her pictures expresses her inmost feelings and have a strong effect on the observer. A lot of them contain a protective and mischief repelling symbolic.
